ÉN TI

seasonal-surrealism-2

ÉN TI is an audio/visual project depicting my interpretation of Nordic landscapes, atmospheres and environments projected through obsolete and decaying technology. The project ethos illustrates my complete disregard for the disposable nature of modernity, challenging the semantic and semiotic ideologies of what is considered to be ‘inferior’ and or ‘waste’ in 21st century Western society.

It is manifested in the form of a full-length, debut solo album and a soft back, pocket photo book, released on the 22nd of October 2016.

The album was written and recorded over the course of a year between Oslo, Cardiff and the Forest of Dean using physical analogue/digital electronic hardware and acoustic instruments only, then mixed with analogue EQs. It features compositional references from minimalism, black noise, dark ambience and electo genres. The first edition of 100, numbered copies are available on premium audio quality high bias II chrome cassette tape in handmade, recycled packaging enclosed HD download. Each unit is individually assembled by yours truly.

The album is available to stream and purchase digitally here:  simongore.bandcamp.com

Physicals are distributed in Norway by Looop.no and available in the UK through Circuit Sweet here:  http://circuitsweet.bigcartel.com/product/simon-gore-en-ti

The album has digital distribution from Diger in Oslo and is streaming on Spotify here:

The ÉN TI photobook features 32 unedited images of Norwegian landscape over 56 pages, taken by myself on expired 110 film between December 2014 and January 2016. The colour bleeds, visual distortion and imperfections are all as a result of the process of the expired film decaying over time. I like the idea of taking the artistic direction/decision away from humanity and allowing nature to act as a higher power upon the outcome of the work. The original negatives were digitally scanned and left unedited. The first edition of 50 signed and numbered copies are also available through Looop and Circuit Sweet.

I was interviewed by Circuit Sweet about the project, full explanation here:
